Travel books are almost always boring. We went here, ate this, took pictures of that, hassled with Customs there, etc. When somebody tells you to read about his travels, you know you're in for an experience almost as bad as a slide show.But that's not the case with Mike Gomborone's "Singing My Way Around the World." Not at all. This is a travel book that's actually fun to read, a book that makes you want to go to the places Mike's seen, meet the people he's spent time with, and have fun learning about the world. This is both a smart book and a happy one; I've been carrying it around this last few days, reading whenever I have a few minutes to spare.

I particularly enjoy tales that engage me in real-life adventures, which this does so well. Not your ordinary travelogue, this book is filled with stories from a working point of view, including cultural encounters of every variety from all over the world, aboard ship as well as ashore. Mike's perspective takes you to many ports on ships he has worked on as an entertainer, and also sometimes as a guide. Each adventure is unique whether it involves passengers, native peoples, off the beaten path sight-seeing, and anything (ANYTHING) that may happen while sailing around the world. You will find that Mike's style of writing is much like peering into his personal travel diary. Its the real deal. A fun and funny read!

It’s a beautiful and fun read of an entertainer’s life on a cruise ship around the world. The author’s pencil drawings before each chapter are quite amusing.
I loved reading Singing My Way Around the Wirld! I even bought another book to gift. Mr. Gomborone has a gift of writing that allows the reader to enjoy his adventures while learning about the nuances of each country that makes travel a positive experience. It's a comfortable, entertaining read with a keen sense of humor dabbled in every chapter. I would suggest this delightful book to individuals who travel a lot, but also to those who dream of experiencing the pleasures of other cultures by embracing their simplicities and differences.
